Kymeta Peregrine u8 Activation and Configuration

The document provides detailed instructions for activating and configuring the Kymeta Peregrine u8 antenna system for OneWeb connectivity, including optional integration with KVH systems. Below is a summarized guide based on the provided document:

Activating Your System

  1. Complete the Activation Form:
  • Obtain the activation form from your KVH dealer or sales representative.
  • Provide one of the following system identifiers:
    • Antenna unit serial number
    • IMEI
    • KVH serial number
  • These identifiers are found on the label on the Kymeta shipping box or the bottom of the antenna (see Figure 1).
  • Email the completed form to airtimeservices@kvh.com.
  1. Receive Login Credentials:
  • After activation, KVH will email login credentials for eBill, where you can monitor data usage.

Connecting to the Internet

  1. Connect Your Device:
  • Connect your vessel’s computer or network device to the Kymeta system’s Data cable.
  • The system’s DHCP server automatically assigns IP addresses.
  1. Manual Configuration (if DHCP is not enabled):
  • Set a static IP address: Between 192.168.100.10 and 192.168.100.126
  • Gateway: 192.168.100.1
  • Subnet: 255.255.255.128 (/25)

Updating Ephemeris Data

  1. Download Ephemeris Data:
  • Connect a laptop to the internet and visit https://ephemeris.oneweb.net.
  • Navigate to the Itet/ directory and download the Itet.csv file (updated every 30 days, expires after 90 days).
  1. Connect to the System:
  • Power on the Intellian OneWeb system.
  • Connect your laptop to the “MGMT” port on the CNX-WIFI or CNX-Rack using an Ethernet cable.
  1. Upload Ephemeris Data:
  • Open a web browser and go to 192.168.100.1.
  • Access the Install Wizard, select “Start Installation,” and proceed to “Upload Ephemeris Data.”
  • Browse and upload the Itet.csv file, then select “Upload.”
  • After upload, click “Next,” then “Reboot” to apply changes.
  • Complete the remaining steps of the Install Wizard until “Installation Complete” is displayed.

Optional CommBox Edge

  • The CommBox Edge Communications Gateway integrates and manages multiple communication channels (OneWeb, Starlink, 5G/LTE, VSAT, Wi-Fi, etc.).
  • Features include:
  • Prioritization and bonding of WAN connections
  • Configurable application controls, content filters, rate limits, and usage quotas
  • Secure remote access and cloud-managed interface
  • For more details, visit kvh.com/edge or contact sales@kvh.com.

Pairing OneWeb System with a KVH Antenna System

  1. Change the IP Address (TracNet H-series and Coastal Pro only):
  • Power on the Kymeta antenna system.
  • Connect your laptop to the “Data” Ethernet port.
  • Access the SSM user interface at 192.168.100.1.
  • Navigate to Diagnostics > Advanced Configuration.
  • Change the CNX Interface IPv4 Address to 198.19.55.1 and select “Try.”
  • Wait for settings to apply, then access the SSM at 198.19.55.1 and save the changes.
  1. Connect the Kymeta Antenna to the KVH System:
  • Connect the Kymeta antenna’s “Data” cable to Ethernet port 4 on the TracNet Hub+/Hub or TracPhone ICM (unless otherwise specified by KVH).
  1. Update KVH Software (if necessary):
  • Check the software version on the KVH system’s Support page.
  • Update via the KVH app or web interface if needed (refer to www.kvh.com/support/product-help).
  1. Configure the KVH Antenna (TracPhone HTS-series only):
  • Contact KVH Technical Support (mvbsupport@kvh.com) for a configuration file to enable automatic switching to OneWeb as the primary connection.
  1. Select Compatible Port Configuration (TracNet H-series and Coastal Pro only):
  • Log into the TracNet web interface or KVH Manager.
  • Choose a port configuration that includes “Alternate WAN” to prioritize the OneWeb connection.
