How to choose your Iridium airtime
Prepaid: pay in advance
- Buy a block of minutes or units that stays valid for a set period, from 30 days to 24 months.
- No monthly bill and no contract.
- Best for occasional use, seasonal trips and phones kept for emergencies.
- Recharge before expiry to keep the SIM active; reactivation options are available if a SIM has expired.
Postpaid: monthly plan
- A monthly allowance of minutes and SMS, billed every month.
- Contract terms from month-to-month to 6 months, depending on the plan.
- Best for regular users, crews and businesses that call every month.
- Some plans include voice pooling across several lines.
How activation and recharge work
- Tell us your device and SIM status. New activation, plan renewal, recharge of an active SIM, or reactivation of an expired SIM.
- Choose your plan. Postpaid or prepaid voice, GO! or GO! exec airtime, PTT, Certus or GMDSS.
- We activate or recharge. Your SIM is activated or topped up and the plan applied.
- We support you. Plan changes, renewals, balance questions and technical help from the Global Satellite team, 24/7.

Iridium plans: frequently asked questions
Which Iridium plan is best for occasional use?
A prepaid plan. You pay once for a block of minutes that stays valid for a set period, with no monthly bill. Choose a longer validity if you only use the phone a few times a year.
Does Iridium work everywhere?
The Iridium network covers the entire planet, including oceans and polar regions. Global plans work worldwide; regional prepaid plans for Latin America and Africa / MENA work only in those regions.
Can I recharge a SIM I already have?
Yes. We recharge active Iridium SIMs and renew postpaid subscriptions. If your SIM has expired, we can reactivate it; reactivation options are shown on each plan page.

What plan do I need for Iridium GO! exec?
GO! exec uses its own airtime plans, with monthly options that combine voice minutes and IP data, including an unlimited-data plan for messaging apps. Standard Iridium GO! plans do not work on GO! exec.
What is Iridium GMDSS?
Iridium is an approved provider for the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS). Our GMDSS plans provide distress, safety voice and messaging service for SOLAS vessels using approved terminals such as the Iridium LT3100S.
