CommBox Edge network management
CommBox Edge brings every connection on board under one gateway. Combine VSAT, Starlink, 5G/LTE, Wi-Fi and Ethernet, set rules per network or device, and switch automatically when a link drops.
Choose the license that fits your vessel: Lite for essential control, Standard for bonding and crew tools, or Secure for advanced threat protection. See all KVH plans.
In short: CommBox Edge licenses cost $100 per month (Lite, up to 5 WAN), $169 per month (Standard, up to 12 WAN) and $299 per month (Secure, up to 12 WAN with threat protection). A new CommBox adds a one-time $120 activation fee.

What is CommBox Edge?

What is the difference between Lite, Standard and Secure?
Lite manages up to 5 WAN connections with firewall, SD-WAN and failover. Standard manages up to 12 WAN connections and adds traffic policies, bonding, WAN quotas, VPN and a crew captive portal. Secure adds Cisco Talos threat detection, SNORT IDS, quarantine and a threats dashboard.
Can CommBox Edge combine Starlink and VSAT?
Yes. CommBox Edge controls Starlink, VSAT, 5G/LTE, Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections with WAN prioritization, automatic failover and, on Standard and Secure, bonding (load balancing).
Is there a long-term contract?
CommBox Edge licenses have a monthly term and a monthly license fee. Service terms are set out in our Airtime Service Agreement.
Which hardware do I need?
CommBox Edge licenses run on CommBox Edge gateways: the CommBox Edge 2 for up to 5 WAN sources or the CommBox Edge 6 for up to 12 WAN sources.
What is CommBox Edge Core?
