In-Building Repeater for Iridium Satellite Communications

For organisations that require indoor coverage for their Icom/Iridium Satellite PTT system, Icom has developed a new repeater that will allow the use of handheld portable Iridium devices such as the IC-SAT100 inside. Since it is also capable of retransmitting GPS signals, the position reporting function will also work as it does outside. The RP-SAT1 Iridium repeater not only works with the IC-SAT100 but is also compatible with Iridium satellite phones and SBD devices.

The IC-SAT100 can be used globally but will not work where satellite signals cannot be received such as indoors. Currently solutions for creating indoor Iridium coverage are limited, complex and expensive. That’s where the RP-SAT1 becomes such an important solution.

The RP-SAT1 is the most affordable choice for all the users of IC-SAT100, Iridium satellite phone and SBD devices. It is Iridium certified and designed to work in remote areas across the globe with little or no radio coverage. This solution will be useful to ensure full coverage for those users who need communication under extreme and austere situation like military or those who may be organising government or exploratory missions in polar regions and need permanent comms for their base/control room.
